Last weekend, the girls from Kakumdo (only the Cape-Coasters can relate) celebrated their school’s 180 years since then no one has had peace.
From their SHS diaries, to their dearly beloved Kwabotwe (nickname for boys who attended the Mfantsipim school) dragging them for trying to massage their age and the argument on whether they’re really the best senior high school in Ghana.
In all, we suspect it’s been two weeks of Gey Hey all over the news and that’s not such a bad thing. The old students of the Methodist-founded educational institute for girls thronged the hill to indulge in the activities to mark the 180th speech and prize giving day.
Aside from the speeches, bonding and fanfare that accompanied the event, fashion was one of the biggest highlights of the occasion as it reigned supreme. The traditional colours of Wesley Girl’s High School is yellow and green as such most guest adorned themselves in lace, wax print and silk creations which used these color scheme.
Ghanaian social photographer, Yaw Pare despite being bounced by a Gey Hey tutor braved the odds and captured the coolest girls in their stunning and spectacular anniversary dresses.
